Chai Break

And it’s finally time for this week’s Chai Break…chai

Nadia ventured out on Tuesday night to the East Village after much too long (hibernating in the UWS these past several months). Had dinner at a really cool spot with a true New York downtown scene: ACME at 9 Great Jones. Sometimes a change of scenery is just what you need, even if it’s a different neighborhood of your own city.

Nadia’s family celebrated her beloved Nani’s birthday. With a Top Chef competition, unmatched menu of food and sweets, Sari tying competition, skits, speeches and cake, it was a memorable and fun afternoon with three generations. (And we planned it on a whim!)

For Star Wars fans like Juveria, there was a major casting announcement this week. But what that truly meant for the state of films today is perfectly captured by this piece in The Atlantic, proving yet again that television is a much more diverse and welcoming medium.

And while we’re discussing diversity, Oscar nominated actress, Lupita Nyongo’o, gave an inspiring speech about the definition of beauty. This woman can do no wrong.
